The term "blog" is a portmanteau, or, in other words, a blend of the words web and log (Web log). "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.
A blog is a user-generated content website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order (i.e., newest to oldest). The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of most early blogs.

ohhhh, I feel more knowledgable now. Pam, did you make up that word: portmanteau? I haven't heard it before, or maybe it's just my memory forgot it. LOL...
Hey, I just looked up portmanteau in my 12 yr old dictionary and this is what mine says: a large traveling case with clothes, esp. one that opens out in the middle into two equal parts. (Funny) I guess they added more to the meaning since technology has changed. Well I am finished web logging or blogging. Thanks for the info. :P (Tanya)
portmanteau - sounds like a conflation to me. I suggest you eschew obfuscation when communicating computationally
Well, multisyllabic communiques are ubiquitous in the computational universe. An obsequious blogger may conscientiously obviate forays into ingenuous banter, but why extrapolate inherent benignancy from such obeisance.
And who would want to anyway? Sounds painful.
Noun 1. portmanteau - a new word formed by joining two others and combining their meanings; "`smog' is a blend of `smoke' and `fog'"; "`motel' is a portmanteau word made by combining `motor' and `hotel'"; "`brunch' is a well-known portmanteau"
or, just a suitcase with a split in the middle.
Okay, person at 10:12 pm, is way over my head.*** I am going to go take a deep breath of fresh air before summer comes with our "Smog"._________ Well, I Tanya, love to banter with others, does that make me Tanter or a Banya?? Nevermind, I was trying to make up a cool portmanteau nickname, but I'll stick with the one I have. Does anyone remember how I got my nickname???
Hi Dr. Pam
I just wanted to let you know what an encouragement this website is to me. I do frequent it often, because it uplifts me. Thank you
Uh..er..uh..hmm
I think I now know what portmanteau is...thank you (I think). Tanya - will you go to bed? How am I ever go to convert you from night to day if you are blogging at 1:00am?:>)
Deb, you crack me up. What do I do when I can't sleep after I've prayed, read my bible, prayed, called my mom, prayed, go to the bathroom, prayed, drink some water, prayed, study, count the lost sheep, prayed for the lost sheep, laughed at a distant memory, prayed for God to put me to sleep, wrote done a note, laughed at our phone conversation, prayed that God would knock me out...??? Well, I could take some more muscle relaxer, but I'd rather not.. because you know how that goes, the ceiling wants to talk to me...Laughing Lots...Hey I am going to try again.
I googled it:
portmanteau — there are two meanings packed up into one word." This is a double joke: first, a portmanteau is a suitcase, in which one would “pack” things, like the multiple meanings within portmanteau words;
second, portmanteau is itself a compound word, similar to portmanteau words, in that it is from the French words for "carry" – porter – and "cloak" – manteau.
