"The spiritual life is first of all a life. It is not merely something to be known and studied, it is to be lived."
-Thomas Merton, "Thoughts in Solitude"
Thomas Merton (1915 – 1968), Catholic theologian from Kentucky, studied and practiced prayer without ceasing. Of course, he was a Trappist monk living in a secluded abby in Kentucky ...
How do you find the Lord in day to day moments? ... living spirituality ...

You are the air I breathe ...
Oh yeah? As we sing this song, I am challenged and then, for awhile, each breath reminds me of Him. I like it like that!
I try to communicate throughout the day: If it's looking outside and seeing a humming bird, I thank Him for his creation /if it's a thought of someone in pain, I intercede /if it's doing something I don't like, I may complain to God or even argue, but he often tells me what's best for me / if it's thinking of a memory or talking to a great friend, I cherish it and thank God
Was listening to the radio today. The "friend-a-thon" on 89.7. The announcers are a blessing as they share their burden to provide "family-friendly" listening, not to mention the great worship songs they play. It reminded of how it is when the Lord calls you to a ministry ... seems funny how energized I get for what He wants me to do...
This week, I have had to make a bigger effort to listen to sermons, Praise and Worship music, associate with friends and support group, and pray throughout the day... I normally do all the things listed above, but sometimes it is harder when I deal with tough situations in life...But thankfully I have the support of my friends who I love. This week I had to strain forward to do the will of my father God.
